Instead of asking, “What does this card mean?” we’ll ask, “Who is this person, and what story are they living?” By weaving the Court Cards together with the Minor Arcana, we’ll discover characters with depth, dilemmas, gifts and journeys that can enrich every tarot reading.

By exploring the relationship between the Court Cards and the Minor Arcana, we’ll build layered character portraits and generate story arcs that reveal motivation, growth, conflict and transformation. Whether you read professionally, create tarot-inspired art, or simply enjoy exploring the symbolic world of the cards, you’ll come away with practical techniques for bringing the Royal Courts to life and a deeper appreciation of their place within the tarot.

Heather Blakey has been happily asking awkward questions of the tarot for as long as she has had a tarot deck. A storyteller at heart, she is fascinated by the way cards become living characters when they’re allowed to wander beyond the guidebook. Expect stories, laughter and a few unexpected detours, because in Heather’s world even the most ordinary journey can become an extraordinary adventure
