Radical Readings

Joshua Hancock

From the Latin, 'rādīco', meaning to take root, the word radical refers to how 'rooted' something is in the manifest world.

In the practice of Horary astrology, whether the question posed to the astrologer is radical is considered before attempting to divine an answer.

As Tarot practitioners, we have all experienced times where our readings have blown our clients away, and others that seemed lukewarm - sometimes in the same day.

In this talk, we will explore the notion of radical readings in the context of a Tarot reading and discuss strategies that can be implemented to promote more purposeful, inspiring and accurate readings with our clients.

Josh is an astrologer who specialises in the profound and mystical art of Horary astrology. Having had a successful career as an intuitive reader and having worked extensively with both Tarot and Lenormand, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience both into his readings and his teaching.

Anne Shotter Presents:

Using Tarot to Tell a Story

We all understand The Fool's journey through the Major Arcana. This presentation will guide you to discover your personal story as told by the Tarot.

The Tarot is a rich, creative source of stories of unmeasurable expanse. It connects to our imagination through the language of symbols. We become familiar with its characters, their strengths and weaknesses. In our readings, we see the paths we are drawn to travel, sometimes chosen and sometimes fated. It is from this vast and complex potential that we can also draw amazing stories from our imagination. When reading for a client there are other considerations for us to consider. But have you ever just let your imagination create a beautiful story from the cards? Pamela Coleman Smith, the artist who drew the scenes in the Rider Waite Smith deck was also a set designer for the theatre. She thereby gave us an abundance of amazing settings to choose from to begin our stories.

Biography: Tarot is my passion and I have worked with Tarot as a reader, teacher, mentor, and presenter for over thirty-five years. I was the founding President of The Tarot Guild of Australia and have occupied many roles since its inception.

Aligning Tarot Suit Cards with Star Signs: Unveiling the Cosmic Connection

NAME OF PRESENTER: Berry McSherry

In the mystical realm of divination, the Tarot serves as a profound tool for gaining insights into our lives, guiding us through the ebbs and flows of existence.

Within the Tarot deck lie four suits, each symbolizing distinct aspects of human experience and emotion. These suits—Cups, Pentacles, Swords, and Wands—hold a profound connection to the celestial bodies and the cosmic energies that shape our destinies. Parallel to the Tarot's symbolism are the twelve astrological signs, each imbued with its unique traits, strengths, and challenges. When these two systems intertwine, a fascinating tapestry of archetypes and influences emerges, offering deeper layers of understanding and guidance. In this exploration, we embark on a journey to align the Tarot suit cards with the twelve zodiac signs, unravelling the cosmic threads that bind them together. By delving into this synergy between Tarot and astrology, we illuminate the profound connections between the cards and the stars, offering seekers a richer understanding of themselves and their paths.

The Fool's journey is a term often used to describe the way the Major Arcana tells a story. We meet the Fool first of all, at zero, nothing. We then follow this character on an intriguing journey much like the sort heroes follow in myths and legends. There is learning, there is failing. There are choices, there are mistakes. There is spirituality and materialism. There are great moments of clarity and periods of destruction and loss and ultimately, we reach the end – the World – and the journey is complete.
