The Esoteric symbolism of Tarot: A Map to the Path of Enlightenment.

The true architecture of the Rider-Waite tarot tells a remarkable story. In this talk, I argue that the deck is a deliberately constructed symbolic map of initiation and the path to enlightenment, drawing on Kabbalah, Western esotericism, and the mystery tradition which both Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Coleman Smith were part of. Through the symbolism of both the Major and Minor Arcana, we trace a complete initiatory journey — from the Fool's first step to the final integration of the self. The four suits of the Minor Arcana evoke the four initiatory paths of a secret Mystery tradition, each element a distinct mode of transformation available to the aspirant.

Bio of Presenter: Malik Tillman is a researcher and presenter specialising in the intersection of philosophy and the Western esoteric tradition. His work draws on historical, mythological, and occult sources to reveal hidden structures and symbolic patterns across esoteric systems. As the Perth representative of the Young Theosophists, Malik regularly delivers talks and lectures for esoteric and philosophical groups, with a focus on connecting rich symbolic analysis to practical application in spiritual study and practice.
