The Making of the Derepas Tarot

Presented by Jody Quackenbush

In the tradition of esoteric fine art Jody Quackenbush will talk about her journey to completing a hand drawn ink pen tarot deck (Derepas Tarot) by using staged photo shoots both new and old. In addition to drawings and concepts from even 20 yrs prior to inform her deck’s creation. With interesting artistic accidents and even some prophetic depictions, the discussion of the unique deck will be predominantly from a fine art perspective. However it can be noted the deck loosely follows the RWS system and will be thematically interesting to anyone with knowledge of that system. Derepas is the French maiden name of the artists Great Grandmother and was chosen for it’s originality and simplicity.

Biography:

Jody Quackenbush a multidisciplinary artist is known predominantly for her textiles and photography shoots. Notably she has works of this nature represented in the UWA Cruthers collection of Woman’s art. Quackenbush has participated in overseas residencies and has been selected for numerous prestigious awards. Please note that there is a substantial talk the artist gave on YouTube for Lawrence Wilson Art gallery that may be interesting to anyone wanting a thorough knowledge of the artists practice
