The Mythology of The Hero’s Journey and The 22 Major Arcana
Presented by Ruanna Marie Segal
What do ancient myths, modern storytelling, and Tarot have in common? They all follow a universal pattern — the journey of transformation, challenge, and awakening. In this immersive presentation, The Mythology of The Hero’s Journey and The 22 Major Arcana, we will explore the deep symbolic connection between Joseph Campbell’s iconic Hero’s Journey and the 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot.
Each stage of the Hero’s Journey — from the Call to Adventure to the Return with the Elixir — mirrors a step in the spiritual and psychological path represented by the Tarot’s archetypal cards. The Fool’s leap into the unknown, The Magician’s discovery of power, The Tower’s shattering revelations, and The World’s triumphant completion — all reflect timeless human experiences that transcend culture, time, and belief systems.
Through mythological storytelling, symbolic analysis, and visual exploration of the Tarot, this presentation offers a unique lens through which to understand both our personal development and the stories that shape our world. Whether you're a student of mythology, a Tarot enthusiast, a creative writer, or someone on a journey of self-discovery, this talk invites you to see the Hero’s path — and your own life — with fresh eyes.
